Dang! It's October already?
Time does fly. And my throat's killin' me.
Not a great way to start the month.

As many know by now, the Conficker worm went live on April 1st, 2009. What was supposed to wreck millions of infected PCs worldwide really did about as much damage as the Y2K bug (or a mouse fart) did.

However, the last few days preparing for this potential catastrophe created more panic and annoyance to myself and my coworkers than the actual worm did. I can only wonder what goes on inside the heads of those that create such problems as computer viruses and spam. Are they just unemployable losers looking to rip the world off? Are they a bunch of anti-establishment cyberpunk wanna-bes who've seen The Matrix too many times? Whatever they may be, it seems to me like we are dealing with people who have absolutely no lives.

Though the Conficker worm hasn't done much yet, Microsoft has put a $250,000 bounty on the head of Conficker's creator. Personally, had I the information leading to his arrest I'd rat him out for free just out of sheer contempt.

Seriously, all you wanna-be hackers, code-crackers, slackers-- get out of your parents' basement, get a real job and GET A LIFE!
